Here's the listing:
PUNK ROCK/POWER-POP SONGS and INSTRUMENTALS a la Green Day, Blink-182, Sum 41, Bowling for Soup, etc., needed by the Music Supervisor of an established Production Company that is a major player specializing in the Extreme Sports Film industry. They prefer instrumentals here, but they will accept songs as well. Tracks need to be 60 seconds in length or higher. Broadcast quality is needed (excellent home recordings are fine). Please submit one to three instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than 2:00pm (PST) on Friday, November 27, 2009. TAXI #D091127PU
Here's the track:

Ready To Party - http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... tream=true

It was a Y/N listing so no critique. They didn't check "stylistically off target" or "not broadcast quality", just the box labeled "music." Any thoughts?

I would have more expected Stylistically Off Target... It probably isn't close enough to the a la's in style. But it's a really good track and will be placed elsewhere. Hi-energy guitar-driven rock is always in demand.

im digging it, Big Blue. the screener might have thought it is kinda busy melodically ?? also, when its nearly 3 mins long, you could have just have a build up/break/bridge before the last chorus to work on the dynamics..? its not off target at all and i think it actually sounds better than my rough tracks, yours is definitely BQ.

anyway, you have great riffs in there, nice and fast... i like !!

I like this track a lot Barry; it sounds like a forward to my ears for what it's worth. I"ll bet you find places for it. Only nit I can come up with is that the melody/lead might want to be a bit more compelling. I might change it tonally too. The sound is real similar to the rythm tracks, maybe put a bit less gain on it?

I got a return on this listing too, with the same info; nothing but the music box checked. I'm going to put up a thread for it ; maybe you could take a listen and let me know what you think.

Again, great work, I'm sure this track will find a home.

Erich

Dude..you nailed it....I've listened to 3 of those bands for years and years now...you totally nailed it. Couldn't tell you why this wasn't forwarded.

Hmmmm, the perennial problem with Dispatch listings - no useful feedback. Thems the breaks, I guess, for quick turnaround. I have to say I think you're right in the same ballpark, Barry. Not bands that I'm overly familiar with (yup I heard of 'em and of course know their famous songs), but can't see why this was returned. Possibly a bit too chunky? I'm really stretching with that. Possibly a bit too dynamic, a bit too ROCK. I feel confident in saying that the genre definitions are pretty narrow at TAXI by and large, and this tune just may be the victim of such a discriminating bar.
