Thank you screeners!.. mainly #318 in this case....but other SPECIAL feedback too.

I just received another return from TAXI, but I feel so encouraged even so, and I have to say thank you
for all the very nice comments and good advice. It is really impressive how you manage to give me a return and feedback, that still leaves me very encouraged! This time (and last time too) I was actually ON target for a listing, (which alone is a major accomplishment for me!),…. it took me ‘The Rally’ to learn and understand how things work (and doesn’t), when it comes to listings/genres.

Also THIS time, the reason for not being forwarded was NOT my lyrics, but the melodi. And the best thing is, that I know exactly what you mean, because I felt JUST like you #318 (when I first wrote/heard the melody), so I recognized it, when you wrote about my ‘When Heaven Calls’, - and you said:

“Ulla, you’ve penned a pretty country waltz. Lyrics offer great Christian sentiments. There is nice interplay between lead and background vocals. However, the purposed stress in the melody line seems to flatten rather that float which some listeners may find disconcerting.” - I couldn’t help smiling, when I read that!

Sorry....this is going to be long, but I HAVE to share ‘my story’ with you on this one, (though I know it won’t ‘buy’ me the forward, ), it’s just REAL special....if anyone cares to read all this:

If there is ONE song I ever felt was ‘kind of channelled to me’, (not really by me? But EXACTLY how it was supposed to be!), it is ‘When Heaven Calls’! :o

THIS SONG ‘came to me’ in the most amazing way! In 1995 I was reading all sorts of spiritual books, (Raymond A Moody, “Life after life” for one). One night I woke up at 4 am in the morning, feeling some lyrics wanted to be written. I got out of my bed and within 20 minutes I had all four verses written down, with no corrections at all...I even used some words that I had to look up in the dictionary the day after, to see if I had used them correctly, since it was words I had never used before! :o ....But…I did NOT get the melody!....Now I NEVER write lyrics without having the melody to support the form! But the melody did not ‘come to me’....not even in the days and weeks after, when I struggled to find it. So I finally put it away, and forgot all about it!

TEN YEARS LATER...when I knew I was going back to record more songs in Nashville (for the second time around!)....I woke up (again) at 4 o'clock in the morning, and this old lyric was suddenly 'spooking' in my mind. Did I still have it? Would it be good enough to become a song to record? I had to get out of bed and look for it....and like a miracle in itself, I found it right away! I was stunned :o to see that it was hand written, with no corrections at all, and that I still found it pretty good.

I took my little recorder and sang it right away...in 5 minutes, all in all...half asleep and like I knew it already! THAT was soooooo weird! Too easy!.....and to be honest, I did not like the melody at all, to begin with. :( It wasn't AT ALL what I figured it should be!...I mean a subject like THAT (“DEATH” / Heaven), deserves something MUCH more 'pompeous' right?.....but then thinking about it…..isn't it just right, that it should ‘only’ be a happy-simple-little-waltz? ;) ....Like it says....there IS nothing to be scarred of!.... (so why make a ‘scarry’ melody?). It's just the way it goes! You are born into this world...and one day, when ya gotta go...you're born into the next world!....so #318....I know EXACTLY what you mean!...I’m just sure that this is how it’s supposed to be, ('flatten'), to not scare people away….(even without a forward! ).

My next 'worry' was: CAN I PUBLISH THIS SONG?....Will people think I'm REAL wacko and weird?.... Well gee...I can't waste my life worrying about that, can I?.... People think what they think, and I am who I am, and believe what I believe. So there ya go! .....AND THIS SONG actually became (and still is) one of my most played songs, from my debut CD!!....It sure was a song that ‘WANTED to get out there’ and be heard, if any!....and for that same reason, I put it on YouTube (as the only one) in full length: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JD3PT0XPx7c
Lyrics: http://en.netlog.com/groups/Ulla_Lindst ... geid=97375

#318…You also wrote some very nice things about my bio (thank you so much! :D ), and suggested that I should add info about my Fanbase? Thanks for the tip!...I wasn’t sure if that would be important :?: , since I’m not planning on becomming ‘the star’ myself, but rather pitching my songs to others and TV/Film. Also I’m not sure if a Facebook fanpage of 400, plus another 1000+ ‘friends’ (/fans?) would be anything to ‘brag about’??

IN GENERAL I LOVE WHEN ALL YOU SCREENERS give me specific ideas about what kind of listing/genre opportunities a certain song would fit (better) for AND speciffically (when you can), telling me what words/phrases you feel are wrong. That is SO helpful and MUCH appreciated!

AGAIN...Sorry about the loooong story here, I hope at least someone will enjoy (it took me hours to write too, lol)….I just had to tell….and yeah, I do feel I’m moving (slowly) in the right direction, thanks to TAXI! You rock! 8-) :D

Ullali, I really like the song. To me it was sort of an Ernest Tubb meets Doris Day with a smidge of George Strait. Classic country, in the vein of an Ernest Tubb song, and I thought the "flatter" vocals were actually flattering and nothing like Ernest would do, so that sort of gave it your stamp imo. So it was like Doris Day singing an Ernest Tubb song with George Strait's band. And of course they are all favorites of mine, lol, so I thought it was excellent!

Wow Len911...that's quite a combination you hear in my song, thank you so much for your kind feedback. :)
I really love hearing what people hear in my songs and all their thoughts around it...especially this one.

Doris Day I have heard before, from others, (love that!), but the rest you say is new and very special to me...and I'm VERY flattered and humbled by it! I love that you say Classic Country...so I may try for that (this listing was a Christian) next time!...if there will be a next time?

I'm not sure if I should try submitting this one again, since I don't think (never say never!?) that I have any intentions of making any changes to this one (ref my story, this one is not really 'up to me')....or perhaps I should try wearing 'them' (screeners) out until they get it/like it too, hahaaa  8-)

THANKS again! I really appreciate! :)
