Help me understand a "Stylistically off Target"
Posted: Wed Dec 15, 2010 11:18 am
Hello, I submitted my song "My Delicious Love feat Tawni" to the listing below and received an "off target" result. I did read the listing several times and listened to the suggested artists. So I just want opinions on what exactly is off target, Maybe my song is not fast enough or contemporary enough? Thanks for your feedback.
You can listen to it on my TAXI page or my website
UPBEAT, PUMPIN', CONTEMPORARY DANCE/POP PARTY SONGS a la Selena Gomez ("Falling Down"), Ne-Yo ("Beautiful Monster") and L2, formerly Labbadia Sisters ("CPR", "Boys or Girls") wanted by top Film/TV Publisher who is a big TAXI fan servicing music-driven television shows, film and advertising. Music must make an immediate impact from the get-go with uptempo, bright, fun, DANCEABLE energy. Hooks must be uber catchy with contemporary lyrics that speak to a younger generation growing up fast. Publisher is NOT looking for one-dimensional, overly simplified language but knowing lyrics that reflect a savvy flirtatiousness. Your vocals (GUY OR GIRL) should be spot-on concerning pitch and phrasing with an engaging timbre that is strong and in control without being too rock/raspy or pop/innocent. This genre is well defined, so check out the artists cited for clarification; take note of the high production value as well and make sure your programming reflects an understanding of MODERN DANCE/POP. We're looking for arrangements that are dynamic with rhythmic change-ups, breakdowns -- something to keep the momentum going. We want to see TAXI screeners bopping their heads uncontrollably when they hear your track! No EXPLICIT language! Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI -
