I think you need to have your screeners apply more consistent and clear rules as to when the "Recording" box is checked for a Y/N return.

I just had a return with the dreaded "Recording" box checked. The track was stylistically off-target and should have been returned-- no argument there. But too many times now, I've had a piece critiqued with high marks for production and engineering only to be returned on a Y/N with "Recording" checked. This piece was not only forwarded a few weeks ago but signed by the client. It's had a number of other forwards. It may be a lot of things but not BQ is definitely not one of them.

Let me say I DO UNDERSTAND how tough these mini-critiques are for your team-- the idea of Y/N was just that and the more info you provide, the more arguments you'll get. You are caught between a rock and a hard place and I 'get' it. I don't want to stir up a hornet's nest.

If this hadn't happened to me a few times, I wouldn't mention it.

Is the "Recording" box supposed to be whether or not the production and engineering is BQ enough for the listing? Or is it supposed to catch other things? What instructions do the screeners get regarding this?

The reason I'm not posting a link to the track is I see this as a general issue, not related to just this one submission.

Let me say this is not a general complaint-- it's really about the Recording box. There will always be situations where your music is accepted for some application but not for Taxi listings-- sometimes the Taxi bar is higher or the usage requirements are just plain different.

I do not take the position that you are the "only true expert on your songs and music is you...the rest are guessing"... I think the screeners do a good job and I agree with them over 90%.

If you get all those boxes checked, it doesn't mean your music and singing suck. But it does tell you that the music is not in the ballpark for what is being sought by Taxi for that particular listing.

I look for patterns where I see similar feedback repeatedly. Clearly if your vocal performance gets less than good reviews most of the time, that really does mean something.

The reason I made my post is I've observed inconsistencies with respect to the Recording box-- I'm finding it hard to believe the P&E can be so good on the other submissions and suddenly a return comes back with "Recording". If I consistently saw that as a weak area I'd accept it.
