Hey everyone,

I am only posting this because I want to get better. So if you have any helpful suggestions, I would love to hear them :)

The two songs (boxes checked)
Time to Talk: Stylistically Off Target
Laid Back Conversation: Music
http://www.taxi.com/brandonamatias

Here's the listing:
ALT POP/ROCK SONGS and INSTRUMENTALS in the range of The Fray,One Republic, Snow Patrol, Augustana, etc., needed by an established Music Library/Publisher for Film/TV placements and licensing. They need music for a few specific conversational scenes in a bar, and others for a "low key" house party. These scenes have some heavy dialogue, so songs with instrumental breaks will work well. Male or Female vocals are okay. Instrumentals should sustain interest; no song beds with a hole where the vocal was, please. Vocal and instrumental presentation must be top notch and sound authentic to the use, i.e. the quality and style of music that would be playing in these settings.

Thanks everyone for your time and listening! I want everyone to know that I am not blaming Taxi one bit, I am just figuring out how I can improve! :)

Brandon

keep th faith, bro.....not sure, what the taxi folks are after, in some cases, other times, it seems like they want a sound so close to the artists mentioned, its practically a copyright infringement. i got a bunch of returns for being off target in the pitching of my songs....actually there are no listings for what i do, so its come down to faith and luck...anyway, your stuff sounds good : )

Perhaps "Time To Talk" was thought to be a "song bed with a hole where the lyrics used to be". It does sound like there could've been lyrics there at one point, even if you hadn't actually written any. I'm not sure how to fix that - perhaps a more defined lead melody being played by one of the instruments.

I like "Laid Back Conversation". Maybe the right hand piano melody was too flowery for their taste? That's all I can think of. Hope that helps, doubt it does. For what it's worth (not much) I really like your sound.

Hey, Brandon

For me it's not that they don't sound enough like Snow Patrol, more that both these pieces are too triumphal to sit behind conversation. They both smack of achievement and goals, breaking out and feeling free. In all honesty, and as a consumer here, not a producer, if I was watching the action and this music came on it would probably inform the scene too much, you know? affect the mood, only be applicable for exactly the right dialogue...

They'd both work for car ads. Just my opinion. Keep up the good work.
