I'm quite new to Taxi and haven't been too active on the forum. Event though I got my tune rejected I can't help but feel motivated by the review on my very first submission the listing was a month ago. The listing was:

DUBSTEP TRACKS with or without vocals, a la Basstiraden, Callan Maart, Butterfly Crash, etc., needed by an Independent Music Publishing company that pitches daily to Music Supervisors. Your track must sound authentic and club worthy, with current synth sounds and top-notch, contemporary production! They're requesting that tracks be "easily editable, 2:00-4:00 in length, and convey a unique edge in style." If vocals, or vocal samples are used, they need to be universal in nature to fit a variety of scenes, and they must be clearance free! NO expletives, please! You must own or control 100% of your master recording and publishing. Broadcast quality needed (excellent home recordings are fine.) Please submit one to three tracks online or per CD, include lyrics (if applicable.) All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than Friday, June 10, 2011. The tune was on target, but the recording wasn't quite good enough for the listing, especially with regards to choice of sounds.

I'm very happy with the review (even though I wasn't forwarded) it showed me that I'm on the right track and I need to work on my production skills. Looking forward to submitting again

Having a listen.

when you say sounds, were you/taxi thinking the top sythn sounds? I think that, i'd say these were more electronica ambient

Some more air between beats / looking at the decay of some notes might pop it in and out more, give more thunder to the kick/bass at the start of sections

Listing aside good tune !

Hi Kenneth-

You have the basics down here, but the overall mix (frequency dynamics and the elements sit together) could use some development.

I'd suggest bringing your loudest elements back a bit and the background ones forward to it all mixes together a bit better as one unit. Sonically it's also a bit on the light side... partially EQ, but also your choice of sounds. I strongly urge you to add some deeper sounds to give it more weight overall.

I ran out of time while producing the tune, so I felt that some elements fell a bit short, but since this this was my first ever submission, it was important to get it out there just to get started. The review gave me a boost of confidence and motivation to keep working.

Getting the really massive bass/ kick combination needed especially for dubstep is an art I haven't mastered yet, I'm going to rework the song when I get back from vacation, maybe ease back on the reverb and ping pong delay. Hopefully there will be another listing where this and some of the other tunes I'm working on can be used.

Listened to some of your music on taxi. I really liked Days Are, catchy song. Do you produce any electronic music also?

No, well dabbled. I listen to allot loud whilst I work - good few hours a day most days! So always gets my attention when I see posts on this kind of music.

I dont think I would ever try, I'm scared if I tried I might de-construct it so much that I put a dent in my appreciation for it and that might screw up my day job : D not that I recon i could even do it.

I try to make music in a few different genres, non really well though. Can't commit properly to one type of music, probably should, thou. There is just too much good music out there!

I find it a bit scary to actually put music up for others to listen to especially if it has my own vocals. I have small home studio in the basement of my house, and I usually write by myself, which makes it very hard to judge the quality of the music. I guess this place is a good place to get feedback.

yeah! + Peer2Peer Forum is great. Can't rave enough about it , when in doubt or stuck or need some fresh ears for mixes and stuff
