When is it too late to upload a revision?
Sometimes I get great suggestions from forum members on songs I've already submitted, but the suggestions are posted after the due date (or I don't see them until the due date has passed). How far after the due date is it reasonable to delete the original and upload the revision? I suppose one can take a chance at any time before the critique comes back.
Although, I suppose one never knows which version was listened to by the screener?

This question comes up often here on the forum.
Anytime you re-upload BEFORE the actual screening takes place, it is the newer version that will be screened. The overwhelming majority of the time, screening does not start until the listing closes so it's pretty safe up until that point. However, Taxi recently posted that there ARE times when they start screeing BEFORE the listing closes (rush job or very high number of submissions) so there are never any guarantees.
Once the listing closes, it's a spin of the roulette wheel since you have no idea when the track will be screeed. It could be minutes, hours, days, or weeks after closing. You just don't know.

I guess it never hurts. The worse case scenario is that the screener listens before you upload the changes. At least you have a chance of catching it beforehand if you upload.

Re: When is it too late to upload a revision?
I asked TAXI a while back.
To answer the OP question: Obviously....After the email you get stating it was returned.
Now.. the "real" answer.
When you submit a song to a listing, lets say the closing date on the listing is still 7 days away. But , since you have the song ready, believe the mix is right , you decide to submit it early so you don't forget it later. Been there...done that.
The possibility exists that the screener who will be screening that listing may have some spare time after screening for a different listing, and will begin to screen the "early birds" on that new listing. Especially if the listing has a deadline with the producer AND there appears to be a large number of submissions to that particular listing.
Once you upload and click submit.... all bets are off. You could get screened 30 minutes later, or a week after the closing date & time.
If you upload a new version, that version WILL be the one the screener hears assuming that they have not yet screened the song. Unfortunately, there is no way for us to know if the song has been screened or not.
I got this info direct from Craig.

Re: When is it too late to upload a revision?
ahhh...that's good to know because it just so happened exactly like this on the Ad Agency Electronica Listing. I submitted before the deadline, then did some revisions...re-uploaded a revised version after the submission date closed, thinking that they probably haven't listened yet.
Does the date of the Forward/Return notice give away any clues as to when it was actually listened to ?
