Not sure how to take this comment from screener Blues post

Post by playagibson » Mon Dec 12, 2011 9:03 am

I got a return on this one " Moore Blues " This song has been forwarded before and I'm not assuming it will get the nod every time.
The posting asked for styles ranging from Muddy Waters to SRV so I felt this was appropriate. It was marked stylistically off target.
The only comment was " Sounds like a Gary Moore tribute. " When I first read it I honestly felt he/she was taking a shot at me.
Postings always ask for stylistic a la's , so I don't get where this knock came from.
If this instrumental was too electric, heavy, busy or British blues sounding I would have preferred to hear that. That's constructive criticism.
I know what people write and how its interpreted can be two different things, but that's how it came across to me.

Sounds spot on, style wise. I think it had some timing issues,
but I don't know what they meant with the BQ.

Rich,
I've heard this song before and like it.
Who knows on this one? A a tribute to Gary Moore on a blues listing seems appropriate to me, the guy played some mean blues.
Maybe it was too rock/blues for them, maybe they wanted something more Chess records or something.
Don't lose any sleep over it.
Keep up the good work
Bruce

Yah, I'm just fine.
Needed to vent.
I'm working on another tune as we speak. :)

OK, so I'm not an expert on the blues, or even particularly knowledgable about this genre, but I agree, that it seems like a really pointless comment. There are definately elements of Gary Moore, but there are also Santana elements further on. The listings give the a la's, because, normally the music required is generic. You have produced a great generic blues track, with identifiable stylistic elements, spot on, surely! Now, if they said, it sounds too much like a particular song, then that would be a valid criticism, but to say something is a tribute to a successful blues artist, when pitching for a blues listing is surely a good thing!!
Change the song titile to eliminate the possibility of auto suggestion!!
