Hi Gang, we're back after a two-year hiatus! Brenda K for Chi Saito here with a question about that listing for Solo World Instrumentals that is due by Monday:

Does "solo" automatically mean "only ONE instrument on the whole track"? I ask because "solo" repertoire for the violin (my instrument) is almost always accompanied by an(other) instrument(s), i.e., piano, orchestra, etc., and since the Panache Orchestra's (Chi & my ensemble's) music is centered in a violin-guitar duet format à la Stephane Grappelli & Django Reinhardt, the majority of it "reads" as "solo violin" music in that context. We have a few pieces that have a distinctive Western European chanson vibe, such as the following:

and on a different tack, a number of our pieces have their inspiration in Chi's heritage (Japanese), and give a "modern" (violin-guitar) treatment to authentically traditional-sounding (but 100% original) Japanese melodies. Here are a couple examples of those:

Sorry for the hideous distortion on the last two tracks! I'm about to remix these tonight now that I've figured out how to make that go away (I've been working at figuring out music production/recording engineering/etc. for a couple months now, and am finally starting to get a grip on mixing ) We also have versions of “Arakicho Street” and “Quintessentially Pink” with just the violin and guitar, w/o the bass and perc that we very recently added in these versions, although the percussion is authentically Japanese on "Arakicho", and really carries the spirit of that piece.

Would anyone be so kind as to weigh in and give us your opinion as to whether it would be worth submitting to this listing, especially since we are so often told that our music would be great for travel-related media?
