need help! first submit opportunity?!

Hey, Fellow-Riders:
I would like to submit to this listing my song "I Felt Lead".
https://soundcloud.com/funsongs-1/i-felt-lead-final-mix
Do I need to register the copyright for it before submitting it?!

If you reply to my plea - please give brief, but complete "how-to" instructions for my first-ever submit since becoming a member,
back on June 1st.

Here's the listing:

CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY HITS with Male Vocals are needed by an extremely active, Nashville-based Music Publisher for a legendary Country Artist that’s working on a brand new album. Please review the following song references to get a general idea of the originality and hit-quality he needs:

“Shotgun Rider” by Tim McGraw:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkpuLMsDn48

“I Drive Your Truck” by Lee Brice:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCSMCgqlc-0

“Neon Light” by Blake Shelton:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yTKBwoVKqE

Quoting the Publisher: “This is for an artist that was once part of a legendary Country Superstar Duo that is now pursuing a solo career. One of the best vocalists in Country music history with a wide range. He is used to singing smash hits and winning awards year in and year out, so only the absolute best of the best will do. Undeniable chart-toppers only! This artist has heard thousands of songs in his career, so the same old, same old simply won't cut it for this pitch. It's going to have to be a two out, ninth inning, game-winning home run kind of a song. Incredibly fresh and original ideas, melodies, and lyrics please. But not so ‘out there’ that it can't be a radio friendly, huge hit.”

You heard the man! Give him HIT Songs that are undeniably great, with fresh melodies, great hooks, and above all, a unique storyline that Nashville has yet to hear… or at least a new way of saying something we’ve heard before. Your chorus needs to be incredibly strong and ready for radio. You’d be wise to have a really solid vocal performance to help capture the attention of this Publisher and the artist. Your demo quality needs to be competitive with songs being pitched on the Row.

The specific deal points will be negotiated on a song-by-song basis directly with the Publisher. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI screener handpicked by the Publisher - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Tuesday, August 11th, 2015. TAXI #U150811CH

Heya Peter,

I listened to your song before the examples and it sounded a bit old school... But then I listened to the examples, and they are sort of bridging the difference between the modern and classic country. It would be really great if you have time to re-record the drums and bass to modernize just a bit more... this song is pretty close to the ballpark.

I wonder if they lyric should be:

"I felt Led
by Hot Lead"

Rock On :D

Thanks for the comment, Russ. I figure that if this is a pitch - the "big artist" is gonna re-record the whole thing anyway; so, as far as it being thus a "demo"... not sure if trying to make changes will be a deal-breaker. I'm anxious to hear if others chime in; plus, the deadline is soon.
Cheers.

I haven't heard of any instances when our track is considered a demo only, but I've not placed anything yet. What i've heard on Taxi TV and read in the forums is that submittals should be production ready. Librarians are looking for things to use/place right away. Some listings have mentioned that songs will be re-done, usually vocal tunes.

No need to copyright or trademark anything at this point. BUT, when you are ready to submit your song be sure to upload it to your "My Music" page on the Taxi web site. This is where the submittal form will look for the file that you submit.

Good luck Peter!

Well... gulp!!... went ahead and did it... even if just for the experience of 'how to'... it only took me about 3 tries; not including putting up the wrong track; misplacing my credit card (thought I'd lost it!);
and timing-out once. Piece of cake! :? 8-)
Dyslexics Ruel!! :? 8-) (just kidding, I know it's really 'reul'. :? :P )

don't think it works that way, your songs need to be "radio ready" with all its shine, bells and whistles, whatever you're pitching to 8-)

Thanks, Les -
The track was greatly played & produced with help from our own
Good-Buddy, Bill Hullett (& his friends).
The TAXI-guys rock!

Cheers.
