Hi all, just wondering if I could get some clarification about this listing. Where it says "Also, please avoid any material with unauthorized samples of other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media"-does this mean that loops from sound libraries such as Logic Pro would be unauthorised material? I have often wondered about loops in my sound library and have not been sure if I can use these for commercial use.
Thanks, Liz.

Hi Liz.

"Unauthorized" would mean loops or samples of existing works to which you have no right because they are copyrighted (copywritten?) and the owner of the copyright did not authorize you to use them. In other words, don't sample or loop a part of someone else's song or CD.

As far as purchased "loops" or samples that are either stand-alone or included in a DAW like Logic Pro, you will need to read your license agreement from when you purchased those. Usually the license agreement will state that you MUST use the loop or samples in conjunction with one or more OTHER sounds (not from the same loop or sample library) so that the purchased loop or sample isn't "solo" in the work that you are creating.

However, you will find that some DAWs are bundled with loops or samples that you are NOT allowed to use for anything other than learning how to use the software. There was a big stink about that a while back when some people used stuff bundled with FruityLoops. Also, I know Ableton made some stuff available (as AbleTen) that was not allowed to be used in compositions.

The bottom line is to read the license agreement included with what you purchased.

Hope this Helps
