Working on Hawaiian instro for UPLIFTING HAWAIIAN and/or CARRIBEAN INSTRUMENTAL CUES. Looking to get some feedback / suggestions on the track and opinions on whether it is in the ballgame of being a forward??

UPLIFTING HAWAIIAN and/or CARRIBEAN INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a Production Company for a popular TV Game Show on a Major TV Network. Please submit original, well-performed Cues in All-Tempos that have a true Island spirit, with instrumentation that‟s typically found in Island-based music – (Slack-key Guitar, Ukulele, Footed Drum, Steel Drum, Nose Flute, Pate, Tremoloa, etc., etc., etc.) Anything that sounds stiff, MIDI-driven, or synthetic won‟t work for this pitch. They can use anything from a solo instrument, up to larger band-size ensembles. Go for short, or even no intro, and layer instruments in and out as your Cue progresses to keep it interesting and not too linear and repetitive. Easy edit points and Non-faded endings will work best for this pitch. All submissions should be at least 2 minutes in length. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). They offer an Exclusive buyout with a flat fee of $300 - $450, for a 1 year usage. You must own or control the Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. I think it's a good start. I think there's a bass drum in there, or that could be the bass attack. The bass could be a little more pronounced, or bring down the uke volume a bit. I think it might need some more melodic variation as well, it sounds a little repetitive. Good start though!

This is what they asked for, (depending on how strictly you interpret true island spirit) though I think maybe a brushes kit with a super laid-back vibe could take it up a notch, (and if you happen to have a C6 lap steel lyin' about, that surely wouldn't hurt nuthin' either) and it might be good to use some arrangement tricks to make each section more unique. It feels a bit cluttered, at present, but just in spots. That might require some mix tweaks as well, cuz in places it's hard to tell which instrument is the feature.

The references to nose flutes and footed drums make me worry they might mean only the most traditional of island music, on the other hand.

Thanks Paulie and Mojobone Guess it needs more work. I don't have lap steel laying around but that would be a nice addition to the C6 uke. Probably isn't the true island spirit they are after. Will save my five bucks this time around and keep working on it. Thanks for the input guys!
