Got a return for my Melancholy Solo Piano

Here I thought I nailed this one. The comment was too much sustain which made it too muddy and a better piano sound would have helped. I disagree about the muddiness, but that's how it goes. On to the next one.
MELANCHOLY, SOLO PIANO INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a UK-based Production Music Library with lots and lots of great TV and Film placements. They want to grow their catalog of somber, Down-to-Mid-Tempo Instrumental Cues...

Congrats to everyone who got a forward. I wish you all the best and hope you sign a deal!
Cheers

Wow, scratching my head on this one.... sounds great to me! I have places in my 2 forwarded tracks where I felt the sustain lasted too long. Maybe it's more screener based.... who was your screener? Mine was #325.

I too received a return:
"Themes don't flow well and resolve properly for this track."
It's a 12-bar phrase, AABA form
Elegie for Paris

Thanks Guys - Yeah, you never know with the different screeners. But that is part of the game. No worries on my end. Just on to the next one.

What was the main reason for the return, KC?

Nice tune K.C. I actually like the sustain.
I got both my submissions returned for reasons of sound quality too. Piano sound too dry and flat, not authentic enough (screener 385). I'll have to try a few tricks to get my piano samples sounding more "airy".
Other posts regarding this listing mention the quality of recording as being the main reason for returns.
My submissions were: "Secrets" and "Winter Wood" on my Taxi homepage if you care to take a listen.
Thanks.
Mark

"lot of sustain that is carrying over into the next measure. Is creating a muddy and unnatural sound A better piano sound would have helped this piece."

Hi everyone! I too received a return for my Melancholy Solo Piano submission. I actually found the reason to be kinda encouraging & helpful but not surprising. Several people told me it was 'melancholy' yet 'hopeful' but I decided to submit anyway. I feared a reason regarding broadcast quality or such. Onward
Screener #325 " This piece lacks the melancholy vibe sought for this project. The track feels a little too uplifting. "

Interesting. It's a really nice piece. Sustains and sounds not my area but this is very much re-working as/if needed and submitting to libraries. Outside of the piano sound issue (if there is one), maybe add some light instrumentation like strings behind it?
Best
