Anyone have thoughts on this listing? I've been looking at it but I just don't have a feel for what they want. The examples are 2 investigative cues, then 2 brassy game show transitions. Then the description seems to be more about quirky dramedy style. So I feel this listing is looking at 3 different genres.

Thanks, Jim

QUIRKY, INQUISTIVE INSTRUMENTAL CUES are U-R-G-E-N-T-L-Y needed for several, $300, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placements in a NEW Game Show. They’re currently on the hunt for Instrumental Cues in ALL Tempos that are stylistically in the general ballpark of the references below:

“Who Wants to Be A Millionaire” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iqwh6bxJPe0
“Deal or No Deal” (1:05 – 2:15) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfDaplU9zuw
“Family Feud” (:50 - :57) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7JUByXEDkQ
America’s Funniest Home Videos (13:40 – 13:46) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08W3cCqZBlU

Please send them Instrumental Cues that can add a fun, inquisitive, and silly vibe to a scene. Instrumentation that could work well for this pitch includes (but not limited to): Pizzicato Strings, Glockenspiel, Marimba, Xylophone, Tympani, Oboe, Clarinet, Whistles, etc. But don’t limit yourself… those are just some ideas! Your Cue should have a compelling melodic theme, with Instrumentation layered in and out as it progresses to create dynamics and forward momentum. You’d be smart to avoid submitting anything that’s frenetic or overly busy for this pitch, as that could distract from dialogue.

Your submissions should be about 90 seconds long with non-faded, buttoned endings. Do NOT copy the referenced shows in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine)

The estimated license fee for syncs in this show is (up to) $300, depending on the ultimate placements. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor pitch. You'll get 100% of the sync fee, and 100% of any applicable performance royalties. Plus, you'll also keep 100% of your Publishing and Master ownership. You need to own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit 1-3 Instrumental Cues online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Sunday, May 7th, 2017. TAXI #U170507GC

Thanks Ron,

At the last minute I went out on a limb and submitted 3 (2 dramedy, 1 investigative).

The dramedy "Playful Rascal (90)" was forwarded, good marks from the screener for matching the description.

The other dramedy "Plucky Fool" was returned, screener said it matched the description but not the examples 'which provided more specific direction than the description'.

The investigative "Sustained Evil" was also returned with this feedback, which gave even more direction: Good sounding cue, and I get the suspense thing, but these referenced shows are all pretty lighthearted. The anticipation needs to be not so much 'something bad is about to happen', but 'something amazing might be about to happen'

... So I'm happy I took a chance on this and got 1 out of 3.
