Hey all,

Any reason to think it would be inappropriate to submit some loungy guitar for this listing?

Original COCKTAIL JAZZ INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a prominent Music Library with a long track record of great placements in Film and TV! They want some authentic-sounding Cocktail Jazz Instrumental Cues in a wide range of Tempos and Styles. Please listen to the following references to get an idea of the range of what could work for this pitch:
“Lounge Scene” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoSrdvSR-Xk
Jazz Piano Bar Music Compilation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhUuEUj2zWk
“Here’s That Rainy Day” by Dorothy Donegan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mmqu9PNerSU

Please submit well-crafted Jazz Instrumental Cues that have a laid back, background music vibe. Everything from a Solo Piano Cues to a fuller ensemble can work for this pitch, as long as your piece sticks too one cohesive mood from beginning to end. Your instrumentation needs to sound great, and not synthetic, stiff, or obviously quantized for this pitch. Imagine what you’d hear in a high-end lounge, bar, or hotel lobby. That’s what they’re looking for!

Are you thinking just solo guitar; or a small Lounge Combo (with at least some upright bass & drums/brushes)?
Based on the text, as long as your piece is "background" music, and pretty constant - no rad "soloing" - then, yeah - why not try?
That second reference :? over an hour's worth (a compilation)... eesshh, hope they don't expect you to listen to ALL OF IT.
Setting "the mood" seems to be a key element. Strange they don't specify a length; probably the typical 2 minutes is all you need.

Thanks Peter! Yup, kinda thinking solo guitar and perhaps a small combo. Given the ala's are all piano and that's the only instrument referenced in the listing I thought I'd toss it out to those more experienced Taxiers.

And I just sent you an email. :)

Only my opinion is experienced. The rest... mmmm... not so much; pretty much still a Rookie here. :? 8-)
But I listen and pay attention... usually.

I think that would be very refreshing and give you a chance to stick out. Are you talking hollow body Joe Pass/Wes Montgomery? :)

That would be the target I think. I'll put something together and post for feedback.

Paulie, I always dig your jazz combo tracks and keep meaning to ask you what you've been using for drums and bass. Really sound great!

Thanks! I use Orange Tree Samples "Core Pear Bass" for all of my upright bass stuff. The drums are usually jazz MIDI packs from Tunetrack for Superior Drummer. I usually use the Roots kit.
