U171017FI - "stems" - individual tracks? or subs?

I'm thinking positively - and also pragmatically - about listing U171017FI, the one for the Cosmetics ad. It says this about stems:
Spots will have lots of alt versions and edits so it’d be great to have stems.
and
If they love your piece and want to use it, they will reach out to you for Stems, and you should be ready to deliver them within an hour! NO KIDDING!!
So I'm thinking positively, again, and thinking, How do I make sure I can deliver no matter *what* comes up? I should prep the stems in advance. Of course! But here's the question… do they really want stems the way I think of them, which is an audio file per individual track? (That'd be 30+ audio files for a couple of the pieces I submitted.) Or do they actually want section submixes to allow them to make their own alt mixes fairly easily?

Pondering in Pikesville. :?:

Hi,

Usually they will request several stems.... possibly including the following:

Full mix
Minus drums
Minus drums and bass
Only drums and bass
Minimal or sparse mix

You just have to mute the unwanted tracks to create the stems....and make sure they are exactly the same length.

Yup, thanks!

The question was more re: their use of the word "stems" because sometimes it's used to mean individual track audio and other times is used to mean submixed sections (just as you describe). I agree that the latter was the case here.
