I got a review back today saying that this listing is for Sports??

Here was what the reviewer stated

" The references they provided are all dark and dramatic. What they are looking for is music suitable for sports television or action."

I dont think dark and dramatic when I think sports. I think exciting. Unless of course its mini-golf or table tennis. You can go dark there. And the references are not dark nor dramatic to begin with. They're pretty EDM styled with heavy kick. There was no hip hop styled reference given.

Once again I think the listings are not doing their job as to what is needed. If this was for SPORTS say its for SPORTS.
If its for a movie SAY its for a MOVIE. If its for TV say its for a TV Show.
It did say they wanted the music to fit under "dialogue" - so naturally you would think this is for a TV show or movie.. It didnt say they need the music to fit under Chris Bermann. That would be considered (LOUD) commentary not dialogue.

So in the future to avoid the composers wasting their money, it would be a good idea to be more specific.

Not a big deal, but I think this is a case of the listing not being adequate in information.

Regards
SER

Although you provide the listing number - for a review & comment sake, it would be helpful if you posted the text of the listing, too.
Hope that's helpful.

ORCHESTRAL INSTRUMENTAL CUES with an EDM or HIP-HOP BEAT are needed by a successful Music Licensing Company that’s new to running searches with TAXI! They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumental Cues that could fit stylistically with the following references we got directly from them: Electronic Orchestral Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OCe5WaWhCg “You Will Remember (Instrumental)” by Marius De La Mer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzYsqTcK4FI Give them well-crafted Instrumental Cues that are built around an EDM or Hip-Hop beat. Submissions should feature high-quality Orchestral instrumentation and a great mix. Your submissions should feature a central melodic idea that maintains the same mood and/or emotion from beginning to end. Material that has poor or dated sounding virtual instruments won’t work well for this request. TAXI TIP: Keep it simple! One cue = one feel. Clearly, these are not very elaborate Orchestral arrangements. They’re looking for Instrumental Cues that can work nicely under dialogue, not necessarily the best or most intricate compositions. NOTE: This company has a great reputation with composers and artists who are already in their catalog! They really get out there and hustle! All submissions should be about 2 minutes in length, give or take. Non-faded, Buttoned/Stinger endings will work best. Please do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast quality is needed. This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal. You’ll split any upfront sync fees 50/50. They’ll get 100% of the Publisher’s share, and you’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share. You must own or control 100% of your Master and Copyright. Since this is an EXCLUSIVE deal, please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. Please submit as many Instrumental Cues as you’d like online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - Short Critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Thursday, September 20th, 2018. TAXI #Y180920OH

I'd say "oops!!", too... no mention of it being for a sports placement.
Did you call TAXI office and ask if it was an accidental omission on their part?
OR - possibly - a refund or cash-credit, at least?

Contact Taxi, ask for clarification. It would be unusual for Taxi to run a listing for sports and not say so. Every now and then (rare) a screener makes a mistake and reviews a submission for the wrong listing. It's hard to say what happened here so definitely give then a call! They are friendly and helpful people!

Good luck!

hmm, I was lost at orchestral cue with a hiphop or edm beat, lol, but I'm also curious about how knowing it was for sports would have changed your cue?

Good point! Assuming this is not a mistake, if you made a cue that had the qualities of the reference tracks, it really wouldn't matter whether it was for sports or not. :D That being said, if this was for sports and the listing didn't say it, I could see why a member would be thrown off by the reason for return being it's a non-fit for sports.

It's always best to call or email Taxi when you need clarification on something like this.
