Middle Easter Dramedy Pitch

Hi All, I'm new to Taxi. So firstly, hello!

Brief intro to myself. Been writing on and off for 12 years, now. Mainly songs (pop, singer/songwriter, generally) with some tv/movie style compositional pieces, as well. Looking to connect and collaborate with folk in general. Looking forward to all that's involved in the journey.

Speaking of which, has anyone been tackling the Middle Easter Dramedy pitch? I'm currently researching. Not much evidence of what I took to be dramedy cues/music within the snippets of some of the soaps/dramas that are televised there; although my knowledge is very limited,as regards this kind of material.
Anyone have an ideas as regards where to search on youtube, say?

Thanks.

First off, welcome! I'm fairly new myself.

As for the Middle Eastern Dramedy, you're on your own... I couldn't find anything on YouTube, either. Your best bet will probably be to listen to some dramedy examples and some middle eastern music and then make the combination on your own.

Good luck!

Dean

Hi Dean.
Thanks for the reply and hope you're finding all good on and off site.

Yeah, guess the potential new standard setters/experimenters will set the current/near future bar.

Yeah, guessing games within certain set parameters, I guess.

Take it you're at the same pitch. Best of luck.

Cheers,
Brian

I agree... I even looked up some of the Reality TV Shows that are successful in the respective markets (e.g. "The Sisters" from Lebanon) and they seem to use nothing but western dramedy music - probably to imitate US shows. I am therefore curious what the market for this music is going to be...
My five cents.
Cheers,
Matt

Thanks Matt.
Just checked The Sisters out; all very Rio. The intro, that is. Yeah, picked up on the Western Dramedy approach. Maybe they wanna stamp more of their region on it. Makes sense. Seems there's plenty of room for this kind of material. Thanks.

I also thought I would go for a more Western approach, but also wanted to be sticking with the "local flavours", as the brief mentions. So, yes, I did a bit of both, hopefully it will hit the right spot for this listing!

I am really looking forward to hear those tracks that got forwarded. I spent a couple of days drafting things for that listing and eventually gave up...
Good luck!
Cheers,
Matt

Are you pitching the first request or the second?

Here is one of the bookends: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaGPNeNVAzw

Here is the other bookend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_lt6RqHRFU

A lot of ISRAELI ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals are needed for several (up to) $5,000, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music-Supervisor placements in a Hit TV Show on a Major Cable Network. She’s looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs for this Military, Special Ops-style show that has plenty of booms, bangs, and chase scenes.

NOTE: We recently ran this request as a TAXI Listing (TAXI # Y190527RR), but the Supervisor didn’t get enough material. She needs a nice, big stash for an entire season of this TV series! If you submitted to TAXI # Y190527RR, please submit different material this time around!

The Inside Scoop: This Supervisor knows she’s going to need a bunch of Israeli Rock songs for the upcoming season of this show. She’s building a “stash” in advance of post-production. She likes both of the references below and told us that both styles could work, as well as “anything in between.”

Please send Rock Songs that run the gamut from what we’re calling “traditional Israeli Rock” to harder-edged, testosterone-driven, Hard Rock (with some Middle Eastern flavor) that would work well in the action/shoot ‘em up scenes. Great songwriting, performances, vocals, and production are needed. All Songs need to be Broadcast Quality.

Lyric Tip: All vocals need to be in Hebrew, and it’s probably a good idea to go with lyrics that touch on themes like winning, victory, surviving, brothers in arms, fighting, and other battle-born concepts that would work during the “kick-ass” scenes. Political, religious, and love songs won’t work for these scenes, so please don’t send any of those!

For the more traditional (less hard-edged) Israeli Rock Songs, lyric themes can touch on a wider range of lyric ideas as they will likely be used as background source music in bars, car radios, hotel lobbies, elevators, etc. Again, political and religious songs probably won’t work for these placements, so please steer clear!

Below are references that “bookend” the spectrum of what could work in this show. The references might have political or religious lyrics -- please ignore them. The music is where you should direct your attention.

Sapari by Orphaned Land

Psalm 150 by MIQEDEM

Do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone.

Because this request precedes the show’s post-production schedule, we are estimating the license fees to range from $2,500-$5,000 per placement. These will be Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music-Supervisor placements, and you will get 100% of the Sync Fee (no publisher splits), and you will keep 100% of your Master and Composition ownership! You’ll also get 100% of the performance royalties through your PRO. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis – Short critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Thursday, June 20th, 2019. TAXI #Y190620RS
