Question regarding submitting songs

Hello all,
Still getting my sea legs with Taxi. I'm curious to know if anyone has suggestions on an optimal track length when a listing calls for a song. This is not for instrumental cues, but for full songs with lyrics. Is it a best practice to match the track lengths of the reference tracks?
Thanks in advance!

Usually the listing asks for 3 to 4 minutes for songs. I sent in some tracks that matched the ref tracks length (5+ minutes) and was advised to have cut-downs under 4 minutes for future submissions. If there's no length mentioned in the listing, a longer song may not hurt, but be sure not to pad the song (esp the beginning) with too much fluff. No 45-second intros!

If you have a song that you can tighten up to 3..4 minutes for the submission, then later the library may want to hear the "album version".

I would say yes, the reference track is always the best indication, unless it is a song from the 70s that is 5 min.+ long - in that case I'd cut it down to a standard 3:20.
Cheers,
Matt
