Hello TAXI land, I'm a new member and my first submission was for an ad which stated the publisher was looking for 60 second songs. My song went 64 seconds, I did everything to get it right at 60 but couldnt. Will I get rejected regardless if the piece is good because of that 4 seconds????Thank you!!

There is a specific reason they ask for 60 seconds, so sending in a 64 second piece won't fit the listing, probably.Why not post the piece, maybe there are some edit points you hadn't considered, or maybe speeding up the tempo wouldn't kill the vibe, or cut the intro down by 2 seconds, etc. Without hearing the piece it's hard to say. But I've never met a piece that couldn't be edited down with some creative thinking, you just might be too attached to it to see the edit points.Just my 2CMazz

60 second pieces should actually be 59??

It can vary by the usage, but usually it means it's a 60 second commercial or something, therefore the whole thing must be edited to be done within that 60 second spot they're paying for. So if you've got a reverb tail or something, you make sure that's faded out completely before the 60 mark, though I was always told 59.5 as the safe spot.

I produce 30 and 60 second TV ads and I can't use a 64. Television is brutal for time and they will cut the ad off at 60 sec. I have cut pieces down myself if the tune really fits the spot, but normally, like others have already stated, I use 29 and 59 sec cuts.My2centsBuc
