Anything but house?
Sorry if this sounds silly...I'm considering sending something to this listing:ELECTRONICA SONGS AND INSTRUMENTALS of all styles except HouseHouse music meaning dance music, right? What tempo's do you think are safe to work in with a listing like this and keep it non-housey? Everything I work on in the electronic genre tends to turn into a booty shakin fest. Thoughts? Examples? Thanks in advance,Garrett

D&B, Breakbeats, Chemical Beats, PsyTrance, Chillout Electronica... Any of these could be good bets...I'm tryna figure out this "Casino listing" too... HTH.Kel

Re: Anything but house?
GarrettI would classify House as that part of electronic dance music that has its roots in R & B, soul, disco, funk etc. Moving bass lines, a Rhodes or 70s key sound, often brass and strings, and typically with vocals. One of the leading purveyors of house on this side of the pond is Defected Records. Check them out here www.defected.comLiam

I was about to post regarding this listing...it is the vaguest listing I have ever seen! It gives no references at all. If the client is so picky then why are there no details? So whats the betting I submit trip hop and the screener wanted techno...or i submit downtempo and the screener wanted trance. Think I'll just flush 5 bucks down the toilet instead.

I agree with Louis. It is a bit vague without references. Electronica has a lot of different sub-genres within it. Trance, Techno, D&B are all "booty-shaking" music . It's hard to figure out if the listing is simply asking for non-danceable Electronica or anything else but House.

Yeah, I'm staying away from the dancey stuff and am going to submit something to (hopefully) compliment the "experimental" side of the listing... It's very broad indeed.... Worth a shot I think....Garrett

Becos of the "Experimental" part, I suspect that they want something innovative, non-mainstream... well, just a guess... a hunch. Hope I'm right...

As I understand house (I've listened for a long time!) it has some fairly large drums, many acoustic elements, don't repeat over and over and over, and could be considered to have huge beats. Think electronic funk/rock with very cool basslines.
