Hi all,I'm submitting for this listing:SMOOTH JAZZ INSTRUMENTALS a la Brian Culbertson, Paul Brown, Dave Koz, Najee, the Yellowjackets, etc. are again wanted by an Independent Music Publisher for placement in Muzak-type applications (shops, restaurants, malls, etc.). He's signed and placed many TAXI songs in the past. All tempos will be considered, but mid-tempo pieces are the easiest to place for this type of application. Performances should sound as if they're recorded by live musicians, so be careful to make sure that your sounds aren't too slick for this one. He really wants to find excellent Smooth Jazz and isn't interested in New Age or any other genre/style. Please keep your songs under 4 minutes in length. Broadcast quality needed [excellent home recordings are OK]. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than October 29, 2008. Here's the song. AG,While I don't have the credentials (aka not a whole lotta fowards) I do have some thoughts - which are really just totally opinions: Technically it sounds very clean, nice mood, very soothing. But it's a little slow to develop thematically, the melody doesn't jump out at me and and I didn't really get a feel for a contrast/chorus part. There's 'clam' at 1:45 in the guitar solo (yeah, well, shucks, I play a lot of those too!). The piece actually sounds more New Age to me. Probably too smooth! Tino... you know I love your stuff ... but I don't hear a lot of swing music in my local smooth jazz radio station.But for both tunes, they may indeed both fit what the listing is looking for! It's amazing how many times you can listen to something and not catch a problem, until a fresh set of ears points it out.The tracks you guys are submitting are really good. Brad,My recipe for refried clams (in Sonar) is I'll cut that individual note to it's own splice, make a loop of it, leave it in place, and then adjust the pitch. Of course you know the old improv trick that whenever you hit a seriously 'wrong' note ... just slide up or down a half step, and it'll sound OK. (Yeah, I meant to do that!!!). When all else fails, the "mute" tool works, too. ~Stan

These are excellent sounding tracks. We've got some talented jazzers around here. I agree that AudioGeeks has a bit of a new age feel to it until the drums kick in. I think all these have a shot at this listing. I agree with the other posts that it feels New Age-ish until the drums kicks in, and then it's definitely in the Smooth Jazz realm.Nice tune! Suz
