Given how many of the listings are somewhat broad, and so many people get returns stating "not on target", I'm wondering why there is a 3 song LIMIT. I understand in principle that one should send "the best" three songs, understood. But it seems if i have 5 or 6 songs I think are on target, and am willing to spend the dough, that gives me a much better shot at getting one through. I contacted taxi about this a while back because I wasn't sure if it was a rule or not. He said that there really is no limit but submitting more than 3 "might be a waste of money." I thought that was a strange statement until all 4 were returned a few weeks later. lolEither way I still submit as many as I think fit.

How ever many I submit, I consider them to be a "door opener" for future "relationship building" with the listing company (i.e. writing and submitting more music). I think that "more is better" works when the listing is more flexible stylistically... submit one slow song, one fast song, one in between. If it's a rigid listing, sending a lot of the same thing (all slow songs that are the same quality) doesn't seem to expand my chances proportionately. I used to submit three tracks always to everything under the sun. I was headed quickly towards being a "1-year burnout then quit" Taxi member. That's no good for anyone, including Taxi. Now I'm more judicious about the listings I submit to and I also balance the number of songs I submit against the "flexible" or "rigid" aspects of the listing. That makes me a much more budgeted, long-term Taxi member. That's good for me and for Taxi too.HTH,Dave

Yeah, I gotta agree. I don't think more is always necessarily better on the submissions. Actually, it could hurt you. Keep your submits focused and make sure the songs are a 'match up' as in they can hear it is distinctly 'YOU' with each song and they fit the listing. Continuity and quality is far better than bulk, I think.Some listings I felt one song was enough, while others I sent two. I think three is pushing it unless you're REALLY sure it's a good suite.That's my two bits, for what it's worth...

It's only recently I realized I could submit more than 3. I think it's cause they can only fit 3 critiques on one form, so you can only submit 3 at one time. OTOH, I was often lucky to have one completed piece to submit!! Now my cataloque is bigger and I can produce things faster, I actually have submitted 3 and 4 pieces to a listing. But I always aim for quality, not quantity. As Dave says, when I have submitted 4, it's always been to a listing that was fairly wide open.

Why not let the screener decide? thats what they are for.

Usually, if I have more than 2 songs for a listing, I'll send the next 1 or 2 songs on a separate submission. Reason being, chances are a different set of ears is going to listen to the second submission...they usually have more than one person listening to the same listing...Because sometimes one listener may not care for your submission, another might, and I've had that happen, on more than one occasion. So, one person may return it, and the other may forward it....That said, all you really need is for 1 of those songs to be forwarded, and if the publisher/library etc, likes what they hear, they usually (in my experience here) will in turn ask "do you have anything else in that style"...so the songs that were returned by the one listener has now been accepted by the publisher/library etc.Hope I'm making sense here...it's late, and I should be counting sheep right now....
