QUIRKY AND FUN INSTRUMENTALS in a variety of styles are needed by an East Coast Music Library/Publisher who has signed and placed dozens of TAXI songs over the past several years. He's looking for left of center, unusual but accessible instrumental selections for a variety of TV projects. While he's looking for a unique sound, he's not interested in a dissonant tone overall. Tracks that are spare are just fine, as long as the mood is bright and fun. Instrumentation is open and arrangement can be explored liberally, but the tracks should be between 1:00 and 3:00 long. If he likes your track and is interested in offering a deal, he may also request :30 and :60 edits. He requests that your pieces have clear endings, no fadeouts. Excellent performances are necessary and the sound quality should be great. Broadcast quality is required [excellent-sounding home recordings are OK]. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than July 9, 2008.TAXI # S080709INNEW LISTING -- COMEDY INSTRUMENTALS are needed by an East Coast Music Library/Publisher that has signed dozens of TAXI writers over the years. This company has three feature film projects coming up and needs to gather a variety of quirky, light and fun instrumental pieces. You can think along the lines of TV sitcoms and slapstick or silly film scenes. An obvious melody is not required, but the arrangements and performances should be excellent. It's recommended that these pieces run between :60 and 3 min in length and broadcast quality is necessary -- excellent home recordings should be just fine. Their deal is typically an exclusive agreement with a 5-year reversion clause. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than July 28, 2008.TAXI # S080728INI would like to know so I don't submit the same tracks to both listings.thanks.

Hey HB,A quick call to Taxi should answer it. It's hard to second guess these listings. I have vague memories of a similar thread where someone said they were convinced that two listings were for the same company.....in the end turns out it was two different companies......anyways..I'd called Taxi. Shame to miss an opp.Derek

Does quirky and fun mean comedic though? I was wondering after reading the first listing in your post.

Well, we've gone through this before so this won't mean a single thing but here's the dictionary explanation of these terms (I checked out two dictionaries):quirky: strikingly unconventional; a peculiar traitfun: Something that provides mirth and amusement; a derisive jestcomedic: a play, movie, etc., of light and humorous character with a happy or cheerful ending; a dramatic work in which the central motif is the triumph over adverse circumstance, resulting in a successful or happy conclusion. So, jes guessin' from this (and believe me, we've been so wrong on this befo, ), you'd want something unlike anything else out there that makes them smile and has a happy, lilting ending. (???)

Ok, but what about something that is light, quirky etc but in a psycho clown killer kind of way?http://www.taxi.com/kurlyqueen and play Herbert 2 (don't have the instrumental version yet - damn, havent even finished the song but you'll get the idea). Many scratch tracks are uploaded there, so ignore them - Thanks.

Without the vocals it is quirky but you'd have to replace the voice. I think it needs mastering as the levels are very low & I have everything turned up as high as possible.

Yes, of course the vocals would need replacement to be able to submit this to an instrumental listing. I just meant that the song is quirky.
