In researching this listing, I've spent some time actively listening to the lyrics and style of Jake Owen, and then the <quote from listing> stylistic/lyric ballpark as "A Man This Lonely", "Almost Home" and "You'll Think Of Me". <end of listing quote>I'm not seeing alot of similarity between Jake & these three songs, however. My guess is the artist sings like Jake in range and style, but wants a song closer to the other three in message?Anyone else have thoughts on this? Not only is the bar high, it appears a bit fuzzy too?NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY SONGS a la JAKE OWEN are still needed by the Director of A&R at a Major Nashville Label. At this point, they're still looking for hits in the same stylistic/lyric ballpark as "A Man This Lonely", "Almost Home" and "You'll Think Of Me". All tempos will be considered, but the melodic and lyric hooks must be extraordinary to be considered. Great stories that draw the listener in and evoke strong emotion could really make an impression here. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than August 7, 2008. TAXI # S080807COThanks, as always, for any thoughts on the matter. I appreciate it!

I pitched for it assuming it was Jake. I assumed his story songs like "Startin' With Me" was the direction they were looking.

Thanks stansongman...funny how Jake's image is rougher than the other three songs they quoted in the listing.Good luck with your pitch...hopefully you'll get a chance to post it in the "forwards" section closer to September
