Should this original song be a (basic) ‘guitar-vocal-Dylan’ version , or like the more produced “Sonic Youth (“ I'm Not There” ) version form the movie (keyboards and guitar, full band etc) ?. BOB DYLAN SOUNDALIKES, specifically "I'm Not There", are needed by an LA based Music Publisher who has tons of Film/TV credits and placements. Again, he's not looking for a cover of that song specifically, but an original that captures the essence of that song- lyrically, melodically and sonically. This is for a specific film placement, so the Bob Dylan song/artist reference should be followed carefully. Great performances are an absolute must. This publisher will work with artists on a 50/50 split basis for the master rights to the song. The company's president will screen the submissions. I take the wording of the listing to mean that they want it really close to Dylan's version. Which is a little tough 'cause that song (his version) is a mess!
