My take on conversational lyrics are lyrics that tell a story in a way that is easy for the listener to understand and connect with. Most country songs have conversational lyrics.A couple of examples i would consider conversational lyrics:Letter to me - brad paisleyAll-American Girl - Carrie UnderpantsI hope you Dance - Le Ann womackI hope this helps, and hope some others chime in as well.

I got that too, but I thought the screener was saying the way I had phrased my line to make it work in the rhyming scheme made it not the way a normal person would say it.. in a conversation..for example...On Elm street is the house in which I live...I live in a house on Elm street....That type of thing....Could be wrong but that's what it appeared he/she was talking about... hope this helps, Geo

It's really simple. Conversational lyrics basically represent how people would talk to each other in normal conversation. Sometimes, trying to be very poetic or metaphoric we put lyrics together that just aren't the way people really talk to each other. In some genres you can get away with a little less conversational, while (generally) in pop and country not.So, when you read your lyrics, ask yourself, "Could this be people actually talking to each other?".Casey
