Taxi Listings Screened?

Post by andreh » Sat Jan 12, 2008 8:06 am

In a recent thread, Mazz stated that Taxi doesn't charge its listing parties for listings. If that's the case, what measures does Taxi take to ensure that listings are "legit?"Taxi is doing a fine service to listing parties by screening our submissions to weed out the stuff that's not up to par...what criteria (if any) are being used to see that the listings we're presented with are worthy of our efforts?Just curious...André

Andre,I think this has been discussed at length here. From what I remember of the discussions, I think TAXI has a pretty strenuous "vetting" process for potential listing clients. I even think ML has weighed in on this a time or two. I'm sure someone has it bookmarked and can post a link to the relevant thread(s).I'm confident in the quality of the TAXI listings given the companies I've been forwarded to. Now if those people would just call already!!! Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

However, I do recall an instance several months back where a big (but not necessarily reputable) library was listing with Taxi and also accepting unsolicited material from any composer...once Michael found out about it he apparently stopped their listing immediately.I don't doubt that Taxi has some guidelines in place for who can list, I just wonder what they are. What if, for example, one of us was looking for a co-writing partner, or to license a few tracks for an independent film whose producer we were helping out. Could we post a listing?I'm sure a call to Taxi would answer this question, but I thought you other forum dwellers might be interested in the answer as well.André

Taken straight from the main Taxi website:Quote:If you would like to run a listing with TAXI, you need to be one of the following: -Major record label.-Major publisher.-Small to mid-size publisher with verifiable cuts on nationally released and/or charted product.-Music supervisor with credits/tracks in nationally released films or TV shows.-Independent record label that has nationally released and distributed, and/or charted product.-Producer who has credits on nationally released and distributed, and/or charted product.-Nationally distributed production music library company with tracks in major films, TV shows or commercials.-Manager with major label affiliations. We're sorry to exclude companies that may not have entered the major leagues yet, but we will only forward our members' music to companies that are strategically and economically able to help our members achieve their career objectives. So, those are the guidelines. And of course Taxi will verify a company's claims when they don't already know the company or individual.HTH.matto
