Submission Deadline Question

Does anyone have the answer to this inquiry?:Are the submission deadlines posted per the industry listings the same as Taxi's submission deadline to the publisher / music library, etc. ?In other words, at what point does Taxi screen the submissions and when are they actually forwarded -- as they arrive at Taxi, or after the submission deadline? Similarly, when are the listing results emailed -- as they are screened, or after all have been screened?I was wondering if it was possible (though highly unlikely) to hear from a publisher or music library regarding a piece that was forwarded by Taxi before you even know it was forwarded.Curiously yours,Larry

Larry,I could be wrong, but i am pretty sure that TAXI sends all of the forwards together at one time, after the submission date.Since some of us have had to wait over a year to hear from a library, I wouldn't count on getting any contact before the listing is due.Rob

Larry,I think Clint answers the first part of your question in this thread:
http://taxi.proboards27.com/index.cgi?b ... 87395026As for the second part I think it IS possible particularly if the listings was screened by the listing party...but it would certainly be very rare.If you suspect this is actually happening to you, the best way to find out is to call Taxi.Of course there's always the possibility that the notification email somehow gets lost.

Thanks for the info, guys Just to clarify, I have not been contacted as a result of any forwards yet, nor do I have any reason to expect a contact soon. I posed this question simply to understand how the whole process works. I'm a "need to know" kind of guy. Larry

I think I understand now that Taxi tries to wait until the submission deadline to start the screening process, then subsequently forwards all the selected material at once. But, theoretically, it could take up to 4 weeks from the posted deadline date before the publisher/music library gets the forwards? That would mean the answer to my question is Taxi's submission deadline is not the same as the publisher/music library's deadline.... right? Larry

I don't think you would ever hear from the listee before you heard from Taxi. In fact, I think it more likely that you will hear from Taxi... and then possibly hear from the listee sometime in the next 6 to 24 months.I would assume that if a music library wants all sbmissions by Oct 15th Taxi would have a listing deadline of Sep 20th... for example.

Taxi waits until the deadline in the listing expires, then they screen everything at once which, as others have pointed out, takes anywhere from three to six weeks, maybe a little longer. Once everything is screened, then the results and/or critiques go out all at once and the forwarded songs are, well, forwarded to the listing company.

This type of issue just helps me get a better understanding of the inner-workings of the business. I appreciate your thoughts. Larry
