TAXI # Y060925CV - Cover Versions: URGENT QUESTION

Hi folks,..concerning this listing:Quote:An LA-based Independent Label specializing in providing cover versions of hit songs to digital music download sites like iTunes, Napster, and Amazon [in fact, this label just signed an agreement with a leading digital distribution company -- IODA] needs great COVER SONGS of hits from today and yesterday. They're open to just about any song, but it's gotta be a recognizable tune -- not just a cover version of a "deep cut" from some obscure punk compilation album circa 1977. =-) They prefer songs that have reached radio airplay. Any style is OK -- even instrumentals are fine. Keep in mind they don't want a derivative work -- they want a straight cover of the original. Great vocal and musical performances are essential. They're offering $400 per cover version + royalties based on download purchases of your version [like a standard artist record deal, the $400 is an "advance" -- any royalties will be delivered upon the company recouping the initial $400 paid to you upfront]. Broadcast quality needed [excellent home recordings are OK]. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY -- NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI. For ground submissions, please enclose a S.A.S.E. if you would like a response. Submissions must be received no later than Sept. 25, 2006.TAXI # Y060925CV..my question: Is it ok (..or recommended) to send in a playback-only version of a song (no vocals, no melody)..?Or is it better to play the melody with a instrument..?Thanks for letting me know what you think.cheers,Martin
