Good reference artist for Y091223IN ELECTRONIC/ORCHESTRAL?

For this listing:
MODERN ELECTRONIC/ORCHESTRAL INSTRUMENTALS wanted by an established Music Licensing company who provides content for major clients including Toyota, AOL, Google, Visa, Xbox, Adidas and more. Mid to Uptempos only - no ambient or chill-out tracks, please! High energy and an engaging blend of Electronica and Orchestral elements are needed. Performances/production must be top notch! Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). Please submit one to three original Instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Wednesday, December 23, 2009.

... what would be a good reference artist? Hans Zimmer, or something less bludgeon-y (something that doesn't pound you over the head quite so much)?

Put on your head gear! Hans Zimmer, John Powell, Mark Isham all will pound you into submission. Thomas Newman is often asked to provide more subtlety in the electro/orchestral realm, so you might go there. But I'd be willing to be that your headache is what they're looking for.

Thanks, Mazz. I do like the Newman!
I've been tweaking the piece "Might and Madness" with the goal of improving the orchestral sections' realism; they might need a complete overhaul. I could add more electronic elements to that pretty easily. So far, backwards prayer bowl and piano! (and the drums of course)

LOL! Nope. It's a Tibetan prayer bowl, metal, sounded by rubbing a wooden stick around the rim. I think in this case I was rubbing two bowls together, various manipulations, then reversed that. I recorded it a few years ago. Love that stuff.
