listings for country songs

when submitting to country songs do they need to be full productions or can the just be guitar and vocals?

If it's an uptempo rocker, full production is necessary to show the song off to its fullest. If it's a more heartfelt song, excellent guitar/vocal would probably be good. The guideline is to fit the demo to the song - if you want folks to dance to it, full demo. If you want folks to cry to it, great guitar/vocal. I'm sure you'll get varying opinions on this, but the bottom line is that country submissions are really tough to get passed on to the listing party so even if it's a guitar/vocal, it's got to be an A-list singer and musician.

The listings will often specify what is required. If unsure, contact TAXI (see the toll-free number above) and ask.
IMO, unless the listing says otherwise, a well-recorded guitar/vocal or piano/vocal can be used to pitch a song, IF...
-- the vocal performance is truly outstanding,
-- the musicianship of the guitarist or pianist is superb
-- if both are in the specific style of the genre & 'a la' indicated.
