When a song listing specifies gender of vocalist ...

Hi, all. I just joined Taxi, and the Forum. I had a question about a song listing I am considering. It specifies the gender of vocalist on the submission: "Female vocals only please." Should I assume that is a firm requirement, such that a submission with a male vocalist would never get forwarded, or at the very least would be very severely disadvantaged in consideration? I would be interested in your thoughts and experience. Thank you.

No experience, but I would think if the song sounded like a female vocalist singing it, why not? I doubt if you would be forwarded if it sounded male,no matter how great, because that is not what was asked for in the listing, and I doubt if the screeners would forward something on what didn't meet the listing requirements, because they are screening, not talent scouting, imo.

If the listing says "female vocals only please", that IS a firm requirement and anything submitted with male vocal will be returned.
