Dark/Brooding and confused

So- there was a dispatch listing not too long ago looking for
Dark/Brooding tracks for the theme of a major paranormal activity
show. I wrote and submitted two pieces.
Now I see the same listing as a regular listing asking that if I submitted
to the dispatch listing please submit new material.
I haven't heard back from the dispatch listing yet...
Am I right in assuming that my last two tracks were returned?
Has this happened to anyone else?

I really want that spot, so I'm gonna write and record more tracks-
but I just wish I knew what happened to the other ones...?

Hey Nick,

It's not unusual at all to see a company run a dispatch listing which is then followed up later by a regular listing. Just because they're running a normal listing does not mean that they have returned your submissions. A lot of times they'll do that because the music that they got from the dispatch listing was so good, they wanted more. Not sure if that's the case here or not. To know for sure whether or not you were returned/forwarded, just log in to your hosting profile and check out your submission history. I usually get an email when the results are in, but I know that some people have had issues getting those emails.

The dispatch listing results haven't been completed/released yet. They must have received a lot of submissions... dispatch results usually take no longer than 4 or 5 days.

Interesting that they're running a regular listing before the dispatch listing screening is even completed. This means (to me) that the decision is/can be months away. So... write, submit, forget... write, submit, forget...

Also, I don't always get my results through the email thing... I have to go to my Taximusic.com page to find out. So far on this... "pending". I imagine it'll be any time though.

Hello all!! New member here, I recently signed up for Taxi and then saw that listing for Dispatch so I signed up for Dispatch just for that listing , guess everyone will be taking a crack at that now, good luck to all, sounds like it would be a great gig, and possibly lead to more stuff with the show. Also not bitter for signing up for Dispatch as I have seen a lot of great things so far in just about a months time so well worth it. My guess is they would like to hear more, obviously nothing stuck out to them as "we have to have this one" so no we have more time to put in some really great and thought out pieces.[/color]

I'm confused by the dark/brooding examples they mention in the listing.. I don't hear the examples that way.. I'll give it a whirl though.

I entered a song for this dispatch listing as well and haven't heard anything yet, sounds like no one has. I would have to agree that they liked what they heard but maybe want to see if, with more time, we all can come up with something just a little better..........I guess we'll never really know.
Good stuff by the way Jim. Really like what you did on the Beatles cover.

Here's my "think positively!" take on it:
- their deadline for choosing a theme got extended, so they're using the time to get as much material as possible
- and/or you have to reason that if they're changing the theme, they might be fully changing the musical stamp of the show, such that -- you guessed it -- they need a BUNCH of great dark, brooding rock.

So, here's what will happen: We'll all submit awesome stuff, one of us will get the theme, and the rest of us will get placements on the show itself! :D

OK, so I made that up -- but it's not impossible, and wouldn't it be cool?

Well, I like the sound of that too!

@ Nick, FWIW I haven't heard anything either. My submissions for the dispatch listing are still sitting there as "Pending". But I have to say this regular listing gave me a real WTF?! moment as I paid the extra for dispatch SPECIFICALLY to submit to that listing and then they make it a regular one?! So I hope ckbarlow is right. :?

bummer...
denied on both counts today. =(
I got a "instrumental performance" check box on my feedback form...OUCH.

Oh well, back to the drawing board, re-write, re-submit.
