Americana Listing Question

There are no A Las included with this listing and I'm a bit lost. A search of both iTunes and Reverbnation turns up a band called Americana but no genre. Anyone care to give what they believe is a definitive opinion about what this genre contains and what it doesn't as far as an instrumental is concerned? Possibly some examples??? I'm not sure I can pull off this listing but I'd be willing to give it a whirl. I'm just looking for some direction, in that I "think" I know what this genre contains but I don't want to really, really waste my time and being dead ass wrong off target.
My list looks like:
Country? Nope...
Western? Nope...
Western Swing? Nope...
Bluegrass? Nope...
Gospel? Nope...
Containing some of all the elements above? Probably. But where do you draw the line?
AMERICANA INSTRUMENTAL COMPOSERS needed by a Music Producer who has a new music library with Major distribution and already has several TAXI composers under his roof. He's looking for tracks with excellent performances and instrumentation in the Americana genre. This producer is currently the provider of music for a huge daytime television talk show but wants to make clear that the songs he signs to the library will focus on the other projects he is involved in and will not compete with the Composers working on the talk show. He is open to both domestic and international writers. This is an exclusive deal and you keep 100% of the writer's share. All submissions need to be Broadcast Quality. We recently ran this as Dispatch listing #D100614AM, so if you submitted to that listing, please send in new instrumentals this time around. Please submit two to three instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Tuesday, August 10, 2010.

I've got a two-CD set called, "This Is Americana", and it's a pretty good overview, imo. It covers yer Jim Lauderdales, Jayhawkses and BR5-49s, but kinda misses out on the Jimmy Dale Gilmores. There's bound to be some confusion involved, because alt. country (Jason & The Scorchers, The Bottle Rockets, cowpunk, etc.) are a subset of Americana.
