Hi Sammi,

I'd be happy to take a listen but I couldn't get your link to work.

Darn, it seems like it works from here... I just stink at posting links. I will try it again.

I found your link in the P2P - here it is: http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.php?artist=sammi

This is the listing, right?

UPBEAT '80s DANCE/POP SONGS with VOCALS a la Madonna and Michael Jackson needed by bustling TV/Film Publisher who has helped propel numerous TAXI members into the spotlight with TV, Film and Advertising placements. Yes, we're talking pop nostalgia: think anklets with stilettos and sequined epaulettes. Songs must reflect the shimmering production of the day with tight, infectious Pop/Dance grooves and straight-forward, hooky choruses that immediately connect with listeners. Lyrics should be bubbly and fun -- angst, be gone! -- and vocalists should sound youthful and energetic with controlled, pitch-perfect vocals that ooze a playful sensuality. This is NOT Pop/R&B nor is it Pop-Rock, but a distinctive '80s amalgam of disco, funk and soul -- all fused into an accessible, percolating pop tart (no pun intended). Evoke the era! Keep it broadcast quality with the production values of the '80s in mind. You must own or control the master recording and song. Please submit one to three instrumentals online or per CD.

Hi Sammi, I think it's worth submitting. I really liked it! As soon as I heard the beat on the intro, I thought "totally 80s." I really liked the instrumentation, thought it really had an 80s vibe. I'm not sure about the treatment on the vocal, though I couldn't say what I would change, it just sounded a little bit "modern" to me - maybe too compressed or too upfront? (not sure).

There are a few key phrases in the listing that I don't know if your song completely match up with, they are:
"bubbly and fun," and "tight infectious pop/dance grooves." Your song sounds more in the mid-tempo range to me than a dance groove, and while I would say it sounds "fun" I'm not sure it sounds "bubbly." Also, concernig the a las mentioned, it souned a bit more Aha or Simple Minds to me than MJ or Madonna. With that being said, I do think it has a shot. Thanks for starting my day with an enjoyable listen, Good luck!

Thank you, I appreciate your insight! It can be so hard to critique our own stuff.
