I just saw this listing for Christmas music and was wondering why the deadline would be Jan 7th 2011?

Most Xmas music gets placed many months in advance of the holiday season-- often the search for music starts mid-year. So my guess is this is not aimed at this year's holiday season.

Absolutely correct, Casey. Film music supervisors look for Christmas/Holiday songs around January when it's not so busy and they have time to check on things like: illegal use of samples, whether they can get clearances, permission from all of the writers involved, if the music fits the scene, etc.

Well, that's good to know! I kinda wondered...thought maybe the A&R guy didn't get the memo that Christmas was 12/25!

Yep; records for holiday release are generally recorded in July.
