Question about timing on a listing

Hello -

A question for you veterans out there. When a listing says;
... Looking for inspirational, organic, contemporary sounding, warm but not maudlin, mostly instrumental, but can have vocalizations, a bit of "world music" influence, but not too much, 60-90 secs, mid-tempo with some rhythmic elements but never gets too intense...
does that mean the track should be somewhere between 60 and 90 seconds, or either 60 or 90 seconds? I know there you should not fade out and have a nice button ending, but what time do you shoot for with this type of description?

I think I will also call Taxi later today and see what they say.

It read to me like between 60 and 90... Can't hurt to double check, but that's how I interpret it.

You rarely see calls for EXACTLY 90 seconds. Lengths of 30 and 60 are generally for TV commercials because those are the standard times used for TV ads.

Good luck!
:) Casey

That is kind of what I was thinking. I thought that perhaps 90 was a bit too long, but thought I would throw it out there for comments.

Thanks Casey.

When I see 60 to 90 secs in a listing that means (to me) no shorter then 60 seconds and don't go longer than 90 secs.

It should also have easy to edit (to the 60 second point) musical breaks. Stinger ending. in other words , do the work for the producer. Make his/her job easy.

I hear this all the time in TAXI listings, then...... I watch TV and the major commercials, not all, but enough of them have no edit point at the end of the commercial. The song is cut in mid musical phrase...... the music just stops at the end of the commercial, unresolved, no stinger. Somehow, that got selected...... hummmmmmmmmm.
