So this listing says it's for emotional love scenes. Does that include the negative type, such as breakups, conflict, etc.? Or just the gooshy, mooshy type? What do you guys think? I seem to only write the sad ones. Must be all the Seattle rain. :D

Seth
A-LIST Hollywood Music Supervisor looking for INDIE SINGER-SONGWRITER songs. He needs songs that will enhance LOVE SCENES with emotional depth and authenticity. Contemporary melodies and lyrics are a must-have! Lyrics must be Universal (no names, place names, or specific, detailed storylines) and focus on a single emotion, underscored by the melody and production. Choruses must effectively convey the heart of the song, drawing listeners into an emotional experience. Vocals should be compelling, intimate and expressive. Production can be simple but must fill the sonic space and create a mood or ambience that will support a scene. All tempos are welcome. Looking for both MALE and FEMALE vocals. All submissions need to be Broadcast Quality (excellent home recordings are fine). You must own or control 100% of the Master and Composition rights. IF your song has already been placed in a film or TV show it will NOT work for this listing - Do NOT submit songs that have been previously placed. This is DIRECT to the Music Supervisor, so you will KEEP 100% of the income should you get a placement. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. ALL submissions will be screened and critiqued by a person HAND-PICKED by the Music Supervisor and must be received no later than Friday, March 30, 2012. TAXI# S120330IS

Hi Seth,

The way I read it, you could go either way ... sad, happy, in between. IMO, it seems they are looking for music for a variety of scenes, not just one type. I think they would have specified if looking for a particular mood. Good luck if you go for it.

Cool. Hope you're right. I was thinking it was "love" not "no love". That opens it up a bit.

Jim, thanks for the thoughts. I agree. I just sorta figured they would use the term "relationship" or something. To tell you the truth, I'd rather submit just in case. ;)

Actually I suspect you might have a better shot with the positive side vs. the negative side, because it does specify a love scene (not a leaving scene, etc) ... but the listing also says "focus on a single emotion" and it doesn't specify what emotion. Since it isn't clear, I wouldn't limit yourself if you think your track has a chance. You could always call Taxi and ask for some additional insight. I've done that a few times and gotten some pretty good direction from them.

Good Luck.

Seth, I feel pretty confident in saying that "love scenes" means "having sex". A single emotion would naturally give the scene more emotional impact than going down a laundry list of emotions while they are having sex, as well as in the moment events than what happened last week and the day before.
I think probably what they are not looking for is an "oh,baby oh baby oh baby", that might be more indicative of a porno film.
Think Barry White??

Yup, the more I read this listing, the more I think positive, intimate love happenings. I don't think lyrics about breaking up, abuse, or getting over someone fits the bill. ;)

I'm probably gonna pass on this one. I'm busy putting together some Indian instrumentals anyway and I'm leaving for Kauai in 2 days. Not much time left. Note to self: write some POSITIVE love songs. :D Sheesh.
