ETHEREAL and AMBIENT INSTRUMENTALS TAXI # S120906AI

Hi all,
I'm new on the forum. Michael speaks so highly of you folks, thought I'd check it out.
Wondered if I can get thoughts on the listing noted above. To quote Taxi, "they want ETHEREAL and AMBIENT INSTRUMENTALS... that have an ethereal quality, but don't just sit there. They need to have movement. Percussive elements would be a big plus as well."
It sounds like they have something in mind, but they don't list any 'like' artists.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what artist might be in the ballpark?
Thanks,
Mitch

Hi Mitch,

This may be helpful - or not. Before they ran that listing, the library owner ran this one:

S120503IN

ETHEREAL, AMBIENT INSTRUMENTALS a la "An Ending (ascent)" by Brian Eno, needed by an Independent Music Library/Publisher for Film/TV placements. QUOTING THE COMPANY: "I need airy, spacey instrumentals that have more of a hook to them. Most tracks in this genre tend to stay monotone and dronish. Give me some movement and theme, but with an atmospheric and ethereal quality." Instrumentation is open, but must be fitting with the referenced artist/song. Do NOT submit World influenced instrumentals; keep your instrumentals DELICATE and HEAVENLY! NO vocals - INSTRUMENTALS ONLY. Excellent performances are absolutely necessary. Broadcast quality needed (excellent home recordings are okay). Please submit one to three instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than Thursday, May 3, 2012. TAXI #S120503IN

I'm thinking many of the forwards for that listing (including mine) might have been too ethereal - and then he was able to pin point that he needed more percussive elements?!!

Just a though - hope this is helps.

Juliet

I'm still wondering what ETHEREAL and AMIENT means...is it rather electronic stuff or could this mean atmospheric acoustic guitars as well?
