Is this listing VAGUE or what?

Hey folks, I'm talking about
TAXI #Y121024PO
CLASSICAL POP INSTRUMENTAL COMPOSERS needed by an A-list actor's production company for Feature Films to be released through a Major Hollywood Movie Studio. STRONG string arrangements, and a clear and COHESIVE mood/tone are required. Think instrumentation that creates and maintains an emotional focus, with arrangements that carry a listener from beginning to end seamlessly...

No A la's, no youtube links...and what is 'classical pop' anyway????!!???

Come on TAXI people, you CAN do better than that!!

sincerely
Adonis

I was wondering the same thing. Classical - Pop - Instrumental. What does that mean? Song form arrangements? Orchestral arrangements of a particular period and style of pop music minus the vocals? Should the arrangements leave space for presumed vocals or cover the vocal parts with instruments?

If the listing had said "orchestral instrumentals" or "instrumental underscore music," it would be a lot easier to decipher.

I emailed Taxi about it, so maybe we'll get some clarification.

Classical Pop Orchestral DubStep New Age Ambient Rocktronica

That's my interpretation and I'm sticking with it!

I was thinking about contacting Taxi about this too. Kind of confusing, I agree. Would be nice to have some a las at the very least!

I was just about to write the same thing....

My interpretation (which is usually off ;) ) was pop as in "current, modernish" for film...maybe Zimmer, Newman...with electronic elements??? Classical popcorn? :D

Keep us posted,

Seth

John, be sure to post the first piece you write based on this formula! You may have just discovered the next big thing! :)

(Actually, I'm half serious about this. . .) :o

Hi all, I've reached out to the requesting party for some clarification. This is the response that we emailed another member after a colleague of mine spoke to the requesting party.

"You are right in thinking along the lines of "orchestral underscoring." The
words "classical pop" could certainly be replaced with the words "contemporary orchestral," here.
Seeking further clarification myself, I discussed this listing with the
supervisor who requested it. He mentioned that they are actually looking
for house composers, and that they were open to considering many different
styles of composition."

Composers need to be adept at both Classical and Pop disciplines.

I hope this helps.

Hey Phil thanks for the info!

Interesting how they seem to convolve "classical" "Pop" "strings" and "house" in their minds. I'd love to step into that supervisor''s ears for even 30 seconds!!

Maybe a good a la would be Moby in his more cinematic incarnations?

Still slightly confused here...............

I didn't read the word "house" there as genre... I read it as they were looking to build a stable of composers.
