I've been getting all the Dispatch e-mails for the past year, and many times thought, "I could probably work up something that would fit that listing," but never felt strongly enough about it to pony up the extra bucks.Until this:An Independent Publisher needs SWING/MEDIUM TEMPO ROMANTIC SONGS for an upcoming recording project for a jazz/swing band that spent it's formative years working for Disney. Happy songs with a romantic twist are specifically what is needed. The song's lyrics must really stand out, in a playful and sweet "lucky in love" tone. Musically, he's just looking for great songs with solid and engaging melodies. Demo quality is fine for this listing. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI. For ground submissions, please enclose a S.A.S.E. if you would like a response. As always, we will notify everyone via e-mail, whether your submissions have been Forwarded or Returned. Submissions must be received no later than 12 Noon, Pacific Standard Time (California time), Monday, January 14, 2008.I HAVE THIS SONG!!! Already written, recorded, and probably the best-produced track in my catalog (even though it is still painfully demo quality)."Charmed"So I think, "Dang! I wish I could afford Dispatch because this would be PERFECT!" Then I remember that the Dispatch fee is prorated based on how much time is left in your membership year.Heh heh.I've already sent in my renewal, but my first year of membership is up in SEVEN DAYS.My prorated cost to join Dispatch so I can submit to this one listing? (And any others looking for demo quality fluff in the next week)Two dollars and 49 cents. So I did it! Of course, the reality is that the song will get returned and I'll shrug and get back to work on the next regular submission, but ...... boy, am I excited!

Thanks, guys. Know what I just figured out? I could have waited to join Dispatch until the day this song was due and saved myself another $2.05.Kathleen

Kathleen-Really really like this song!Quote: Of course, the reality is that the song will get returned and I'll shrug and get back to work on the next regular submission, but ...The "reality" is that from small things come great things! I think this is perfect for this listing, and may turn out to be the best 18 bits you ever spent! I know you don't want to "get your hopes up" but crap! isn't that where they are supposed to be? That's why they call 'em hopes!

That is such an amazing coincidence. I've been waiting for a dispatch listing that i had something written for before signing up for dispatch and this one turned the corner for me too. After hearing your beautiful song i'm not feeling quite as confident. Your song has more depth and perhaps captures the swing feel a bit better. I pulled the horns out of mine because they felt too artificial even for my green ears.Well, good luck to all of us.Here's mineWealthy Manhttp://

Hey, that sounds great to me! The vocals especially far outstrip mine. If you ever do want real horns on something, let me know. I'm all about trading tracks.Plus, I'm just over here in Astoria and do find myself in the Portland metro area once in a while - do you ever play anywhere?Kathleen

It's funny you mention that. I was thinking about your horns all night. They were so dynamic and "Silver" sounding. It just makes sense that they were real. Yeah, i'm all over trading tracks. My primary is bass in all styles, fretted and fretless. In a studio environment with endless redo's i can usually create decent guitar tracks in a variety of styles. So let's discuss it some more. I'll PM you so we can take the conversation off of the board.I just played in Lincoln City on Saturday. Not exactly next door but on the correct coast at least. Used to play the Wet Dog a bit but either they closed or stopped bringing in Portland bands (or at least the band i'm working with). We'll talk more.Great song, Timmer

No luck. "Charmed" got returned.Perhaps it's a bit slow compared to the other "mid-tempo" submissions posted here.Oh well. My sister liked it as her wedding present.
