Just wondered if anyone had a couple of good examples of what this listing is looking for.... sounds pretty high bar.A range of great-sounding ACTION INSTRUMENTALS [no vocals] are needed by a U.K.-based Music Library/Publishing Co. for TV placement. This company ran numerous TAXI listings in 2006 (and signed many TAXI songs) and are now in need of more great material as their service has become very much in demand. In their own words: "We are seeking a variety of dramatic modern instrumentals with emphasis on energetic cinematic movement throughout the piece with a strong percussive edge. Any instrument emulations must be indistinguishable from the real thing. Stylish and slick production is essential; think movement within film trailers." They don't want tracks that sound like they were obviously MIDI generated - authenticity and great performances are the keys. Both instrumentals with lead melody lines and basic backing tracks that serve as "soundbeds" are OK - they want both. All tempos are OK. Track length should be in the 1:00 - 3:00 range. At this point they work mostly with prominent U.K. TV channels such as the BBC and ITV, but also supply music to other production companies that broadcast worldwide. They offer non-exclusive, 50/50 deals. Broadcast quality needed [great sounding home recordings are OK]. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI

Thanks, by the way, for underlining the high-bar portions of the text to make me extra paranoid about answering this. I don't know if this covers everything you've underlined but you probably wouldn't get hurt TOO bad if you went down this basic path...

Dave,Always good stuff, is this one going in for this listing?Dan,Good stuff. I think you have a shot. Some of the piano and string runs on "Hot Pursuit" sound a bit "MIDI" to my ears and a couple of the drum fills on "Running" gave me the same impression. Besides that, good compositions.I'm putting in 4 for this, a bit of a mixed bag:

Hey Hummingbird,Let me start off by saying I like the track! It's quirky and fun. The couple of things that I noticed are, one, that it felt a bit repetitive. Maybe you could introduce a new instrument or melody line somewhere near the middle, or possibly throw in a chord change or two to heighten the moving, dramatic edge. And two, some of the instruments felt a bit "MIDI-ish", most noticeably the high hat. I'm still not sure how picky they'll really be on this, since I'm sure we all use MIDI on these type of things, but I'm guessing the more natural we can make it sound the better.Great work!Dan

http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... eam=trueHI thought this was, again, one of your better tracks. I seem to think that every time I listen to a track of yours now. At first I thought it was too "sci-fi" but the horns coming at at the 0:14 mark changed all that... made it very action oriented. Like Matto's suggestion with my Armenian Electronica track (to introduce something "Armenian" right off the bat), my main suggestion would be to introduce that horn riff maybe right off the bat... BAH BAH BAH BAH and then the percussion and synth stuff. Something to let the reviewer know right off the bat that this is going to be orchestral in nature and not just synth oriented.True, you could add more interest by changing things up a little by adding and taking away certain things, mostly rhythm instruments but overall I think it meets the criteria for the "soundbeds" description... something that can play in the background and set the mood without getting in the way of the dialog.Cool track. Dave

Quote:Dave,Always good stuff, is this one going in for this listing?I can't submit this for the listing... already spoken for but your "Dervish Dance" prompted me to think that I might submit my "Armenian" thing since there certainly won't be too many like that and it probably fits the listing (although not as well as the track that I won't be submitting... story of my life )
