Contemporary, Fresh Hymn Arrangements

Last weeks dispatch order for several contemporary, fresh hymn recordings (due by last Wednesday or Thursday) now comes forth as a regular listing for October with an early November due date. I worked night and day to get some of those hymns arranged and recorded (and was thankful to get one forwarded). Yet the same songs are named in these "new" listings. Does this indicate that the project has been pushed back? Does this mean they have already listened to my forwarded arrangement and turned it down? Does this mean some other poor soul out there will be working hard on the same song that I already had forwarded? I realize that just because a song is forwarded doesn't mean that it has been chosen, but this approach seems a somewhat irresponsible abuse of time and talent.

I realize that just because a song is forwarded doesn't mean that it has been chosen, but this approach seems a somewhat irresponsible abuse of time and talent. This was at the top of each one of the Dispatch emails calling for the hymns:**PLEASE NOTE: The following listing will also be available in the October 1st set of TAXI listings, as the company wants to hear material ASAP and at the latest by mid-November. So if you'd like to get a jump on this opportunity, please submit the Dispatch listing below. Otherwise, simply wait for the listing to be available Oct. 1, 2007.You got a forward because you hit the nail on the head with your arrangement and production. They are still taking submissions because they want a wide variety of styles & settings. You should feel good that you got the forward. This is for a music library and that means they want to have in their library a variety of versions of the same hymn... and that they feel they can pitch them. You have an opp to be one of the people they deal with. It's not irresponsible if they have an urgent need to hear stuff right away but will still take submissions later for future uses.H

You are so right. I'm embarrassed I didn't see the note on the dispatch. Thanks for the heads-up!

Now you also have a chance to work some more on the ones that did not get forwarded and submit them to the regular listing.

Thanks for the feedback and smart suggestions, Antonio and Dave. I'll do just that.

Yeah, I wanted to do a set for the Dispatch, but let it slide because I knew there was a back up coming up. Now, I'm planning to do all of them, and whatever I don't get forwarded will be the start of a record I'm going to release on iTunes or something. My church would eat it up... not to mention we'll be able to use some or all of the arrangements in our weekly worship services! Gotta love multiple outlets!

Well, this project ended up turning into a deal for me - and for two songs. Also sounds like a relationship will develop where I get called upon for other projects. Joined Taxi in September and this is my first deal. Pretty cool.
