Hi everyone I have been tooling around with a " Lumineers " type song. Any advice would be appreciated.

This is sweet. I like the first two verses especially.

I an not crazy about the word "own" in the title. Granted i dont hear you music but maybe it could be like:

you find yourself
your true self.

Very nice lyrics.

Hi Andy Thanks for taking a look at this. I found the title on the internet and it kind of stuck me as a rustic way of saying " finding yourself " which also seemed to work in with my Lumineers type tempo.

Anyway, it gives me something to consider.

Hi Tom,
I like the imagery that you're working with (asphalt for gravel, walking along the river, climbing mountains, etc.); it really conveys the point of slowing things down, getting back to nature, reconnecting with yourself. I don't really understand the bridge, though. I *think* that what you're saying is that you have to figure out who you really are, and not who you/others think you should be. Is that close?

Hi Stephanie Thanks for taking a look at this song. I was really trying to keep this song simple by showing rather than telling. I guess when I got to the bridge I got more philosophical. The point I was trying to make there was that, when we are born, we are molded by a whole bunch of other people, to the point that as we mature we are thinking other peoples thoughts and maybe even following their dreams instead of our own. So, yes, you were right about what the bridge was saying.

The great thing about Taxi is getting great feed back from people like you. So thanks again and like the man said.. Write on!
