I haven't written in a while but I've been falling in love with a lot of music recently, namely Kacey Musgraves who has kinda given me the kick start to try again. So here's the first thing I've written in along time.
Old Familiar Locket
S. Telford
Grandma's Sunday best
was a locket on her chest
that her husband gave to her a long time ago
And grandma wore it proudly
and told stories of it loudly,
she made sure not one person didn't know.
That old familiar locket,
I keep it in my pocket
and rub it when I need a little luck
but I'm so scared I'll lose it
that I barely ever use it
and I guess that's why I'm running low on luck
Grandma wore it well,
with every story she'd tell
we'd fall in love with that locket again
And grandpa really meant it
in the letter that he sent it,
He'd be with her until the bitter end.
That old familiar locket,
I keep it in my pocket
and rub it when I need a little luck
but I'm so scared I'll lose it
that I barely ever use it
and I guess that's why I'm running low on luck
And grandma always wore it
'til the accident that tore it
from her neck and took her life away.
Grandma I've still got it,
that old familiar locket
and it reminds me of you every single day.
And who needs luck anyway?
