is "hell" considered profanity?

Greetings!

I am writing for a taxi listing and it's a rock song about swagger and confidence. The hook in the chorus is "hold tight, 'cause I'm a hell of a ride." Does the use of hell in this context constitute profanity? Would it limit possibilities of being placed in film/TV because of this reference?

I googled it. "Hell" is considered a mild curse word, but in this setting, it is used to portray confidence and action. I've overthought this too long that now I don't think straight on the subject. Would be interested in what y'all think!

I wouldn't have thought so unless it's for a TV show set in a monastry

I'm thinking "helluva" is in such common usage now that no one would bat an eye. On the other hand, maybe it's time to come up with a new expression of admiration and confidence. Maybe "Hold tight, 'cause I'm a Trump of a ride"?

I went through this recently with a song I wrote called "To Hell And Back". It was accepted by a very successful "critical" Taxi-friendly library. The only thing they ask for is a "clean" mix version where the word is left out where it occurs. It's on the mild side as far as what might be considered profane. If you submit it for a listing, put in a note, "Clean mix available". Same if you submit it to a library on your own.

Now of course if a listing is for a children's show or similar, I wouldn't submit.

Good luck!

Highway to Hell - AC:DC

Bar Out of Hell - Meatloaf

All The Good Girls Go to Hell - Billy Eilish

To Hell with the World - David Ford

Interesting topic ...

It might depend on your target audience. I would guess in our "western" world ... North America, Europe, etc ... probably not a big deal. But in some other parts of the world it may be more taboo.
