My Exes From Texas (Larry W. Jones 04/16/2008) (song#5379)Once in awhile I get a feeling, my heart won't be healingI can't smile when my future's so darkI once lived tall down in Texas, where now dwells all my exesDown in Texas I sure left my markAround Texas I travelled, until my life came unravelledSomewhere down along the borderlineOver in El Paso, they tried to hang me with a lassoOver some girl who's no longer mineMy exes from Texas know what a hex isCause I know they put one on me all the timeThey let me kiss them, now I reminisce themMy exes from Texas are no longer mine- instrumental -There was neat Eileen from Abilene, she was such a sweet dreamMy love until she showed me the doorThen I wed Alice from Dallas, but she was full of maliceThat red head just wanted more and moreOh, my Mable was unable to live without her sableShe liked expensive things that were fineNow I'm no longer sleeping, it's because of all my weepingMy tears seem to flow like table wineMy exes from Texas know what a hex isCause I know they put one on me all the timeThey let me kiss them, now I reminisce themMy exes from Texas are no longer mineMy exes from Texas are no longer mine

Larry, I like this lyric, I do. The only problem is you're messing with a classic - an incredible song that's already been done...I don't think this one stands a chance due to the mass success of the other one! As an old cowboy, surely you know George Strait's "All My Exes Live in Texas"!Dang, huh?!

Howdy momof4 and aimusic. Well, it's both sides of the coin in opinions. But, I agree, my song does not have a ghost of a chance to go anywhere here in the USA. George Strait's "All My Exes Live In Texas" will always be on top. However, I got a really good thumbs up from someone in Australia, so you never know. The "Downunders" are big country music fans also. Anyway, it was fun writing it. It kind of reminded me of Hank Thompson's "I Didn't Know God Made Honky Tonk Angels", which was followed by Kitty Well's "God Didn't Make Honky Tonk Angels", which was a "reply to" song. Both of them were mega-hits and made Kitty Wells the first female country singer to sell a million records. But, of course, mine is not a "reply to" song, just another version of the same theme.

Tsk, tsk. You can't use it. At least you shouldn't. We could all come up with songs that used the hooks from other songs. Nothing to it. You have to be more original than that, even if the song is going to Mars. My opinion.

I think this would be fine if you titled the song "God Bless my Exes from Texas"...
