Benefits (Rewrite)

I rewrote the song Benefits from my CD. I played it for many people including Taxi screeners, Pamela Oland-Phillips at the ASCAP Convention and many others. I kept their responses in mind as I rewrote. I recorded a rough demo of the new version and played it for Steve Seskin at the West Coast Songwriter Convention last weekend. The notes I wrote of his comments are "Nice progression of thought in the verses... Great lyric... Really cool idea... The lyrics are whoa!" I'm really happy about this because he is such a good songwriter. Let me know what you think.NomiBENEFITS(Words & music by Nomi Yah)Verse 1I ask for a kiss and nothing moreGet your cheek going out the doorThat’s just a gestureYou act like you don’t even believe in loveLike it’s a thing you’re suspicious ofWhile you make aPlan to be my manWithout promising anythingWithout promising anythingChorusIs there a way that I couldAlter your point of viewCommunicateIs there a way that I couldOffer you comfort toDemonstrateDon’t underestimateThe benefits of being in loveBenefits of being in loveVerse 2You ask why I’m tripping about this thingIs it because of a wedding ringThat’s just a symbolYou act superior, unimpressedLove’s inferior at it’s bestA myth to cling toConfident that you’reNot missing anythingNot missing anythingChorusIs there a way that I couldAlter your point of viewCommunicateIs there a way that I couldOffer you comfort toDemonstrateDon’t underestimateThe benefits of being in loveBenefits of being in love
