Shades Of Blue

Funny stuff, life
It can offer pleasures and delights, but almost always with a twist
It is how we persue them and how we handle the twist where we get to choose between growth and backflips
Between light and darkness
Between instant gratification and longterm fulfillment

Sometimes you’re offered a hand so profound that you find yourself wondering lost in the woods
You find there’s a whole other you
What to do, what to do, what to do
There will always be more shades of blue

Should you be wise and get it out in the open
Or should you be wiser and cover it up
Should you dive, heart first, and hope that you’ll cope
Or should you lead the way before someone says stop
And all the while you’re stuck like glue
There will always be more shades of blue

Once you decide that it’s more than a crumble
You want to abide and feel totally free
Go for the ride as you stutter and stumble
There’s no need to hide, ’cause you’re right here with me

I wish you all and I wish for compersion
I wish we both keep our feet on the ground
I wish you completion and total emergence
I wish you happy with happiness found

Sometimes I wish it’s not you
There will always be more shades of blue

You talk and you talk and you try to find reason
You love and you’ve never felt so much alive
You long and you burn and you learn about treason
You realize that’s not how you want to thrive
And suddenly there is your cue
There will always be more shades of blue

Funny thing, life
Sometimes light turns to darkness, even though it’s not true
Older and wiser, shouldn’t need no disguise
But I hope you will find your way through

I have never met anyone like you
There will always be more shades of blue

I listened to a few of your piano tracks. Very nice indeed. ;) Tried to hear 'Shades of Blue', but the player wasn't responding.
The lyric on the page has an appealing flow to it.

I assume the song is (your own) singer-songwriter style, and that you intend to keep the lyric pretty much as is.
Therefore, I'll make only a couple of minor suggestions.

Between light and darkness Maybe drop the second 'how we' for a smoother flow on this line.

Once you decide that it’s more than a crumble I feel this is a forced rhyme with 'stumble', making the line weaker than the ones that follow. If you rearrange the line and say 'flutter', you simply need to make line 3 'Go for the ride as you stumble and stutter'.
You want to abide and feel totally free
Go for the ride as you stutter and stumble
There’s no need to hide, ’cause you’re right here with me

I wish you all and I wish for compersion I doubt many people will know the meaning of 'compersion'. :) The 'all' reference is unclear. Do you mean everything or everybody?
I wish we both keep our feet on the ground For grammar reasons, I suggest changing this to 'I wish us to keep both feet on the ground'.
I wish you completion and total emergence
I wish you happy with happiness found

Sometimes I wish it’s not you
There will always be more shades of blue

You talk and you talk and you try to find reason
You love and you’ve never felt so much alive
You long and you burn and you learn about treason
You realize that’s not how you want to thrive The word 'thrive' is a cliche rhyme with 'alive'. It sounds forced. Perhaps re-think the end-word rhymes for lines 3 & 4.
And suddenly there is your cue
There will always be more shades of blue

Funny thing, life
Sometimes light turns to darkness, even though it’s not true If it's not true, perhaps say that light only seems to turn to darkness.
Older and wiser, shouldn’t need a disguise To get rid of the double negative 'shouldn't need no'.
But I hope you will find your way through

I have never met anyone like you
There will always be more shades of blue

Very nice. A definite Cy Curnin (of the Fixx) vibe, reminiscent of his life-contemplating solo work. Good job.

I would have to know what commerical intent you have for the lyrics to know if they would work in that regard, but as for the lyrics - qua lyrics - they're quite good.
